NEW MEMBER PROFILE: Elizabeth Caddy for Edward Jones

Elizabeth Caddy is a financial advisor for Edward Jones. She helps her clients obtain, build, protect, enjoy and transfer wealth. Financial needs can be complex and require specialization. She helps develop and execute strategies for the individual, family and business. Read below to learn more about Caddy and her work.

Who are you?

I am a financial advisor that is very enthusiastic about her business. South Bend is where I was born and raised, and I moved to Chicago after college. A couple years ago, I purchased my first house in the city and live there with my husband Zach. We have been married for just over 5 years and enjoy concerts, good food and travel. I have been playing the violin since I was a little kid, and still like to perform and record occasionally for side projects.

How long have you been in the neighborhood?

I have been in Old Irving Park for the last couple years and signed my new office lease in the West Loop at the beginning of the year. I should be officially moving into the new space sometime in the summer after our build-out is complete.

Why the West Loop?

A lot of clients that I work with live and work in the West Loop. It seems to make sense that I move my office to the area. Also, I wanted more weekday lunch options, so I wanted to move closer to Fulton Market (just kidding....kinda).

What are your top challenges in growing your business?

Time is the constant challenge for me. I like to be very involved with both my clients and community, so creating internal procedures that allow me to be efficient in day-to-day tasks is important. This allows me to then focus on my business relationships. It can be challenging, and I'm always looking for ways to improve.

Why did you join the West Central?

I find immense value in partnering with other business owners and professionals in my neighborhood. Since I started my business, I have been looking for ways to give back to the communities I am in. Joining West Central seems like a great way to achieve that in West Loop.

What makes Edward Jones unique?

Edward Jones is a privately owned brokerage firm, which we believe allows us to be more personal with our clients and make decisions with the best impact on the advisor-client relationship. We maintain smaller branch offices within different neighborhood communities, while keeping operations and support staff within our headquarters in St. Louis. This allows us to build a unique presence in our neighborhoods and know our clients at a more personal level, taking a holistic approach.

What gets you up in the morning?

My work truly has high impact in the lives of my clients. Knowing that every day I'm helping someone fund their child's education or help them one day not have to work is exciting to me. I am one of the first calls my clients make whenever they're expecting a new baby, getting married, thinking about getting a divorce, or when their loved one passes away. Helping my clients achieve their dreams and goals is such satisfying work to me.

What’s your favorite part of the West Loop?

The West Loop is such a vibrant neighborhood with an exciting business scene of young professionals and some of my favorite restaurants and bars. I am looking forward to the continual growth of my business in the area. I am confident that my admiration of the neighborhood will only continue over time.

What does Edward Jones' future look like?

We have had a very strong presence in the suburbs of Chicago, and I am excited to continue working to expand that presence more into more central locations in the city. We will celebrate 100 years as a firm in 2022, and I still see lots of continued growth for us ahead. Penny Pennington became the new managing partner of our firm at the beginning of the year, and I am excited to see where her leadership takes us.

Describe Edward Jones in 140 characters or less

Edward Jones, a Fortune 500 firm, provides financial services for individual investors in the United States and, through its affiliate, in Canada. The firm has more than 17,500 financial advisors who care for more than 7 million clients with more than $1 trillion in assets under care.

Bonus Question: If you were the mayor of Chicago for a day, what would you do?

That's a big question! I don't think I could get a whole lot done in just one day, but I would want to start on solutions to reduce the massive gap of wealth and privilege we have throughout the city. But I have hope Lori Lightfoot will do a great job with helping us work toward this.
