How long have you been in the neighborhood?

KI was founded in 1941 in Aurora, Ill. and has been serving the greater Chicago market since that time.

Why the West Loop?

The West Loop is a great mix of businesses from start-ups to large companies. It’s also very dynamic and offers a fresh perspective on the corporate landscape. We are focused on continuous learning and want to interact with potential clients who have new perspectives on the workplace.

What are your top challenges in growing KI?

Our top challenge is that we do not have as much name recognition in the corporate sector as we would like.

Why did you join the West Central?

We believe the diverse corporate landscape of the West Loop fits our go-to-market strategy. We are all about creating partnerships with potential clients and other stakeholders in order to provide customers what they need.

Serving the needs of clients and being engaged in the community. KI and its team members are highly involved in various industry organizations that give back to the community.

What does the future of KI look like?

KI continues to focus on providing personalized products and services to our clients. We strongly believe that great design is about building a sense of community and creating spaces that forge connections and foster a sense of belonging.

Today, KI is approaching $700 million in sales and ranks as the sixth-largest contract furniture manufacturer in the industry. KI employs nearly 3,000 people and currently operates nine manufacturing facilities around the globe.
