Job Summary:
The Executive Director is the CEO of the West Central Association Chamber of Commerce. This individual is responsible for leading the organization, implementing strategic initiatives, and managing day-to-day operations. We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, extremely collaborative, and organized strategic thinker, with a desire to help businesses grow and support the WCA’s goals of becoming the leading community organization for its dynamic service area. This full-time position reports to the Board President and Board of Directors and supports the various committees that support our mission, including our Executive Committee.
Key Responsibilities:
● Leadership & Strategy: Develop and execute strategic plans, provide visionary leadership, and represent the WCA to members, media, and the community.
● Business & Membership Growth: Drive significant revenue increases through donations, events, memberships, grants, and other funding streams. Grow and retain a strong member base.
● Team Builder/Leader: Build and motivate a high-performing team. Demonstrate leadership with the ability to inspire the team, Board, and community.
● Program & Event Management: Plan, execute, and evaluate programs and events that support the WCA's mission. Develop programs that empower members to thrive.
● Financial & Operational Management: Oversee the organization's financial health, daily operations, staff management, and compliance.
● Advocacy & Public Policy: Advocate for the business community on local, state, and federal issues, and influence public policy affecting the business environment. Serve as liaison and spokesperson to all branches of City, County, State, and Federal Government agencies, departments, and elected officials affecting business conditions, planning, security, transportation, and all other aspects relating to the area represented by the WCA.
● Collaboration: Enable the Board of Directors to fulfill its governance function and facilitate the optimum interaction between management and the Board. Maintain active involvement in other City of Chicago industry associations as well as other WCA service area organizations, including attendance at community meetings whenever possible.

Qualifications:
Executive Leadership: 5+ years in a chamber or similar organization, OR 10+ years in for-profits with chamber/non-profit board experience.
Chicago Expertise: Deep understanding of Chicago's business landscape, economic development issues, and opportunities, and strong senior-level connections.
Results-Oriented: Proven track record of achieving strategic goals, revenue targets, and financial objectives.
Business Development Expertise: Experience driving sponsorships and multiple revenue streams, with an understanding of community development/political affairs.
Influential Leader: Strong communication and advocacy skills to build consensus with stakeholders.
Team Builder/Leader: Proven ability to build and motivate high-performing teams and demonstrate leadership with the ability to inspire the team, Board, and community.
Community Champion: Capability to establish a strong public reputation for the WCA.
Passion: Passionate about the West Central area.
Integrity: Perform such other duties as directed by the Chair, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors to ensure the safe, efficient, and ethical operation of the WCA.
Flexibility: Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, evenings.
