A pioneer in design and delivery, Wight & Company provides integrated architecture, engineering, and construction services for the built environment.  For more than 75 years, the firm has helped clients create exceptional, enduring buildings and spaces.  This year is their 80th anniversary. How long have you been in the neighborhood?

Wight has had an office in the neighborhood for over 15+ years, in addition to our headquarters in Darien, Ill.  We are located in the historic Power house building next to the Northwestern tracks.  The closest track is literally six feet from the windows of our conference rooms. 

 

Why the West Loop?

A dynamic neighborhood that is constantly changing, with great access to public transportation, highways and the Loop.

 

What are your top challenges in growing your business?

Meeting potential clients who we can partner with on creating projects together.  Finding leads and opportunities early so we can be a part of something, rather than hearing about it after the fact.  Leveraging our knowledge and deep portfolio from other successful projects and applying it to new building types, clients and projects.

 

Why did you join the West Central?

To meet other like-minded developers, entrepreneurs and business leaders who we can develop relationships with that will lead to more opportunities and successful projects.

 

What makes Wight & Company unique?

Our holistic approach to design and construction. We have a full range of services from planning, architecture and design through construction and transportation expertise.  We’ve worked on a wide range of project types, in different roles, and different locations, that allows us to approach any project with a plan for success. 

 

What gets you up in the morning?

We get excited about creating exceptional spaces that have an impact on our community.  Whether through design or construction, or public or private endeavors, we look forward to working on projects that creating lasting impressions on the people who use them.

 

What’s your favorite part of the West Loop?

Restaurant Row and Randolph street.  Such a great collection of world class dining experiences and always someplace new to try. 

 

What does the future of Wight & Company look like?

Expanding our role as a best-in-class integrated design and construction firm through new relationships, collaborations, and fantastic projects in the city, Chicagoland and beyond.
